Let me start off by saying high. Just signed up today.
I have a 2011 ranger sport 4x4 that doesn't even have 30k on it. The front calipers evidentually froze up and trashed my rotors. I am looking for an upgrade for the caliper. I have looked at wilwood, brembo, and bear with no luck. I have found( ,power stop,?) Which are red.
Are these any better than OEM?

Thanks

Just stay OEM and make sure the slide pins stay lubed.

+1. At 7 years old, a little relubing the slide pins would probably have saved you from ending up here.

Driving more than 4300 miles a year would probably have helped some too. One of the worst things for a vehicle is to sit unused.

True, but lots of us have vehicles that don't get many miles. My '94 Ranger frequently got less than a thousand a year.

True. It is down to frequency of exercise more than quantity. My truck sees about 1000 a year right now and I don't have any issues from it sitting, but it gets driven at least once or twice a week.

5 miles twice a week is only 520 miles a year, but that is still better for it than doing a single 300 mile trip twice a year and not getting any other use.

Thanks for input. The truck doesn't sit of more than a month without at least running to grocery store. I will have to check slides every tire rotation since it does sit.

about the only way to upgrade to better calipers is with a radial mount type. that requires a custom made anchor bracket. the hose usually mounts different on those, not sure how much of an issue that would be.

larger 12.5" 1998 Crown Vic rotors fit, but there are no factory calipers/anchor brackets that will fit a Ranger with those rotors.
