2010 Ranger

Oldsparky, I went to the dealer today and watched the guy remove the dings, he actually found more then what I saw because of the type of lights he was using. It seemed to work very well when he finished the hood. While I was watching him I now discovered the a/c condenser was hammered with hail damage which would indicate the truck was at a 45 degree angle facing front ways on the transporter and the hail came through the grille. I told them I wanted it replaced and recharged. The dealer said they would contact Ford and submit a warranty claim.

I imagine yours went on a semi, and they probably put the ranger(s) on top, since they're probably lighter/cheaper than whatever else was on there!

Good catch on the AC condenser; ya'll might be able to survive with reduced AC efficiency up there in (Holy) Toledo, but there's NFW that would work here in South Texas!!!

Make them fix the damn thang anyways!

I have no real bad complaints about mine I mean its only a 2wd 4cyl 5 speed but I didn't need a 4wd cause I have my b2. I was impressed with almost everything on the truck and the 4 wheel disc is awesome truck stops so good and a 5speed coupled with a limited slip 4:10 rearends is nice have caught a few integras and hondas off guard. My only complaint about the truck is that it is a extended cab and no 3rd door but when you only pay 11k for a 21k truck you can't complain. And the 29 mpgs on hwy can complain about that either and averaging about 23-25 in the city. That's better then my moms eagle summit wagon

I bet that CR250 will surprise a few Integras and 4 wheeled Hondas too!

I love my '10. I liked my 07 level II, cause, well you could still get the level II trim, only FX4 nowadays :(

Awright you guys have me sold on my choice. I just wish Ford and the dealer did!!!

I still think something is fishy - I called Ford yesterday, and they said it's "in transit" and they gave me a date of 7 Aug, which is a day later than what they forecast last week.

And they STILL can't give me a build date.

Hey Danger Ranger - you ever fool around Cold Lake? I spent about 250 hours of my life flying around there, back in the '80s. Never been to Canada tho...

OK. I don't know where to begin;

The dealer has been telling me my truck should be here "The first two weeks in August". The last time I called "Ford Marketing" 800 334-4375, they told me it would be here 7 August. The week before they swore it would be here 2 August.

I went down to the dealer Thursday, the 12th, and asked if it would be here Friday or Saturday? They said they the paperwork says it should be here on the 4th. I reminded them that today was the 12th.

This is the same BS I've been getting all along. Every damn week the answer is next week, or the week after. And NOBODY can tell me when it was built.

I told them they either need to tell me where it is, or refund my deposit. They appeared to move a little faster. The sales manager came back and said it hit the railyard yesterday. I asked if he meant the railyard in Houston? He said no, the railyard on the east side of San Antonio - about 20 miles away. I said good! We can go get it!

He said no, we can't do that anymore, and it would be here Wednesday the 25th, since another dealer has to fix the clutch. At this point smoke is coming out of my ears.

How did a brand new truck leave the factory with a bad clutch? How did a bunch of "yard doggers" manage to load it on several carriers with no clutch? I know how it's done; jab it into gear when the clutch won't release. This does not give me a warm fuzzy feeling about the longevity of the transmission they want me to pay for! And why oh why does another dealer have to fix the clutch? Shouldn't the truck go to the dealer who ordered it? I don't trust any of these people.

Anybody got any idea WTF I should do? I specced out a comparably equipped Toyota, but that's about $5K more. And I have been, up to this point, a die hard Ford guy. That may change, very soon.

I'm leaning towards going to one of two other dealers and ordering an identical truck, but a 2011. But I don't trust anything this dealer, or for that matter Ford says anymore.

Nah....if you are going anywhere with anything that you really need then the 4 door option is a plus. If you only use it for off road and no extra stuff and people, then yes...get that single cab and go. I love my extra doors as I need them to put in my gear and groceries and the pets!!! But, to put people back there when you go to the trails and capmsites is a hassle!!!! It is just too cramped. So....Ford....bring a real 4 door Ranger for us in the USA!!!!! I have driven all the other 4 door compact trucks and they are really great. Lots of room without going too big of a truck. Lots of power as well when needed.

Straycat
Sport-trac for sure man. Dont buy a jeep or something lame like that

Man Sparky, which dealearship are you dealing with? Every new Ford I've bought was through Bluebonnet in New Braunfels and I've never had any problems. I'm in San Marcos, so I'd kind of like to know who to steer clear of.

Man Old Sparky, I would cancel the order and re-order a 2011 from another dealer. The clutch is out, that is a huge red flag. I use to haul cars for a living and the railroad hires these temps to unload the vehicles from the rail cars and they beat the living s*** out of them when they unload them, I know I witnessed it first hand. I know this is not what you want to hear after waiting all this time. It sounds like your dealer is keeping more than just the clutch issue from you too.

OK. The dealer finally got their collective feces all in one sock, and I picked up my truck (allegedly) with a brand new clutch on 17 August.
Here it is with Old Blue for comparison;

And a few more gratuitous pics;

I've done a few minor mods; installed a remote control tailgate lock and vent shades, made the non-cargo light third brakelight into a working cargo light and installed a VHF/UHF Amateur radio.

Still trying to win the lotto (do I have to buy tickets?!?) so I can buy more serious equipment for the truck.

So last week I talked my neighbor, Kelly, into letting me "borrow" his 31x10.50x15 Hand-Gook Mud-Grip Off-Road Boogie Tires for a day. I put them on the new Ranger, mainly to see if they fit, since I found a set of five 15x8 American Racing "Baja" rims on Craig's List for $100;

Looks OK. Just wish I could afford a set of BFG Mud Terrains.
Looks purty darn good next to Old Blue;

Kelly's Jeep looks kinda forlorn tho;

As a new owner of a 2010

I love the new Ranger it reminds me of my two others Rangers but like some here stated it's better. My first was 91 and the second was 96 mazda both 2.3L manuals. The 2010 feel solid and with the 4.0 moves with no problems at all. I perfer the four door ext cab as it makes easy loading and unloading tools, as the space behind is not made for normal humans. Only 600 miles it's still new and hope like the last two can see 200,000 miles mostly trouble free.

I'd like to know who the idiot was at Ford that came up with the location of the satellite radio antenna. People ask me all the time what is that and why didn't they mount it in the center of the roof.
