2010 Ranger

Isn't the Explorer Sport Trac pretty much a 4 door Ranger?

Yep.. Up until 2005 when it went to IRS, they used the ranger chassis. Wife's 2002 is essentially a 4dr ranger. Styling is a little ghey, but it still has the ranger capability!

Well just an update on my order, it's June 8, and the truck still has not been built yet. The regional manager assured me it will be built before production stops at the Twin Cities plant 7/22/10. The truck was ordered 4/12/10 and I'm still waiting for a build date.

OMG, I finally have a build date of 7/19/10 after they resume from 2 week shutdown. I can't believe it. It sounds like it's going to be one of the last ones built for this model year.:yahoo:

OK, this ain't looking good;

I ordered a 2010 on 10 May. Dealer told me eight weeks. I'm in the process of getting rid of a coupla other vehicles in preparation for getting my new truck in early July/late June.

So you ordered in April, and your build date is the end of July?

This ain't right. Anybody got a good phone number so I can call and B-I-T-C-H?!?

Old Sparky, I called Ford complaint center in Dearborn 800-392-3673 and now I have a case number for all the bitching I did. I've been told by the regional manager that the plant is only building 17% 4 cyl. and 1% of those are MANUAL transmissions that was the delay on mine. The plant only wants to build 4.0L's & automatics. The dealer has given me a new car to drive for free until mine comes in. I pissed off a lot of people at the dealer I bought it from because they dropped the ball on this order and now that Ford is involved they are kissing my a**.

My brother ordered a Mustang in February, it was built on May 20th and has been sitting in storage along with about 3000 other Mustangs (according to some dealership forum thing) waiting to be shipped. It was originally due to be delivered 6-7, they bumped it back to 6-25 last week... and as of 6:30 tonight it still hadn't shipped yet. It is a new model year for them though and they were not yet building them when he sent the order in.

The dealer ordered a Crown Vic cop car that was a couple weeks late too.

Apperently business has kicked up enough for them they are plain having problems getting vehicles out fast enough.

Kinda weird about the 2.3 vs 4.0 thing, many people think that the only reason Ranger sales are up is because of fleet orders... which few of get 4.0's. Manuals I can see, not many people want them.

I called "Ford Marketing", 800 334-4375, they told me they had a "projected delivery date" for my truck of 2 August.

They had no build date.

The dealer told me eight weeks, and I ordered 10 May. 2 August will make it 84 days or 12 weeks.

Is this any way to run a car company? You betcher ass it ain't!

Our trucks have depreciated in value already and their not even built yet. They should be a 2010 1/2 model year. I'm still in waiting too, but at least I have a build date and a vin number. It will be 16 weeks when mine will be built (7/19) since I ordered. Hell I'll be afraid to drive it once it comes in.

Finally........it's here! Good news and bad news. My Ranger finally showed up at the dealer. The bad news is after all this time waiting, it has hail damage from the storm that went through here Thursday night 7/22 while being transported :bawling:. The dealer claims it can be fixed with this paintless dent removal. Anyone ever had this done, and does it work?

ORDERED 4/12/10

BUILT 7/19/10

RECEIVED 7/24/10

I've seen paintless in action, it works pretty well for small dings like hail damage.

I just had my Ranger hail dents pulled by PDR (Paintless Dent Repair). It really works good. I can't even tell if I had hail dents to begin with. Reflections off the paint are smooth and no distrotion. But really, it comes down to the shop you take it too. If the shop takes their time and does it right, the results will be flawless. For those fly-by-night PDR shops, the dents may be pulled, but reflections will probably be distroted.

Aw Hail!

Buckeyeman that S U C K S! Waiting 103 days for a truck and having it show up dinged!

How bad/many are the dings? I have no direct experience with hail damage repair. I've heard it works like magic.

I believe I would want some money off on the deal!

Now I'm REALLY worried, I still don't have a build date, but last week, "Ford Marketing" told me my truck was built and sitting on the ramp, waiting to load on a train. Only trouble is, the Twin Cities area got some hail last week - probably the same storm that dinged your truck.

I do have a window sticker, but I can't find a build date on there; http://sparkherd.com/temp1/WindowSticker.pdf

I ordered 7 May 2010. Last week the dealer told me the truck would be here (Texas) anywhere from 2 - 13 August. Two weeks ago, "Ford Marketing" told me the truck would be here 2 August. Last week they said 6 August.

Something is fishy.

I have this mental picture of my truck with all the windows broken out and the roof, hood and bed rails cratered from baseball-sized hail!!!

I tried to find my truck here; http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&sou...4971,-93.19303&spn=0.005402,0.012746&t=h&z=17, but there's too damn many white ones!!!

The dealer is bringing a company in to make the repairs. I have no idea who that will be. Dent Wizard maybe?

I was sick, I could have cried waiting so long and then this. I told them who prepped the vehicle Stevie Wonder? This should have been caught before I was called to come get. Nobody at the dealer saw the damage until I pointed it out to them.

There were 4 dime size dings on the hood and 2 on the roof. There didn't appear to any on the tops of the bed and the sides were ok. If the dealer calls me to pick it up and it's not to my satisfaction they are going to discount this one or build me a 2011.

The bottom of your window sticker says 7/15/10, that could be your build date I'm not sure. Your dealer has the paperwork from Ford that tells them the date it was built. My dealer showed me that information.

I disagree.. if you need 4 doors get a car. Because your using it to haul people more the stuff. I love the 3 door option... I can easily access stuff in the back that I want, you don't put people back there just stuff.

Nah....if you are going anywhere with anything that you really need then the 4 door option is a plus. If you only use it for off road and no extra stuff and people, then yes...get that single cab and go. I love my extra doors as I need them to put in my gear and groceries and the pets!!! But, to put people back there when you go to the trails and capmsites is a hassle!!!! It is just too cramped. So....Ford....bring a real 4 door Ranger for us in the USA!!!!! I have driven all the other 4 door compact trucks and they are really great. Lots of room without going too big of a truck. Lots of power as well when needed.

Straycat

If i were looking for a 4 door that i could take offroad occasionaly and go to rough places a car wouldnt make it, id look for a low mileage 91-94 explorer, its the only style of explorer i would ever have

Well, I would be willing to bet (altho not very much) that those dings can be pulled out.

7/15 is the date I downloaded that PDF from the site. There's also a 7/14 date on there, which is the "blend" date, I believe, since I called Ford on the 14th and told them the window sticker site wasn't working. And then Lo! and Behold! my window sticker magically appeared the next day. Howz THAT work?!?

And the dealer is just about NO help at all. They act like they don't even want to sell cars.

So basically I dunno WTF is going on. I sincerely hope the truck wasn't sitting on the ramp when those hail storms came through the Twin Cities!
