So today we got the newest Ford Ranger in at work. And checking it out we found that :shok: its got FACTORY rear disc. No more conversions. But its not even the explorer rear disc that people have been using for conversions for years. They have some strange setup that is all ranger stuff.

Its got some funny vibration dampender on the top caliper bolt. I had my phone handy to take some shitty pictures.

Its not much, but i tried to get something.

Maybe they wont kill off the ranger afterall, seems strange to go and make a new rear disc brake setup for a ranger thats going to be killed off? If they were going to kill it off, I would think that they would have left the whole deal the way it was for the past 26 years.

Looks like a mini sized version of the new f150 rear brakes. They have the same funny little vibration dampener on the top caliper bolt.

Sweet, about time they did that. Drums are a pain in the dick, and I hate dick pain.

now to figure out how to throw those on a 1999 :D

saw that on a new truck last weekend, wondered how long they had been in production. i didnt even look at the window sticker to see if it was a '09 or a 2010. i did see however that it was 23K and this was a 2wd 4 cyl supercab. other than being a auto, it was nearly the same truck as my '88 was. in '88 a 4 cyl 2wd s/c was only 14K. wow. my 4wd was 17 when it was new, recon its a 26K+ now.

I've seen them on the 09 and 2010 f150's.

Interesting......I haven't seen a 2010 as of yet (really haven't been paying attention) but I have not seen any 09's with disks. I'm driving an 09 FX4 with drums...hum .........late built 09's with disks maybe:icon_confused: Must do some investigating.

Its about damn time they went to disks.............

Sorry, I was referring to seeing those goofy little vibration dampeners on the 09 and 2010 f150's as well.

Ford probably did the rear disc brakes becuase of the Roll Stability Control. For the RSC to work, it needs indepenent brakeing of each wheel from the rest.

Possible... i never thought to check for seperate brake lines going to the rear. Something to keep an eye out for with the next one to come in.

I know with the f150 they went with true 4 channel ABS brakes on it. Probably the same deal with the ranger.
