Let's see Paul Allen's Ranger.
Tooling around on rock auto, and saw this...

2010 e fan compatibility

Apparently the 2010/11 2.3l rangers came factory with an electric fan.

Anyone know if the fan and shroud are bolt in for the 4.0l? I don't see why they wouldn't be, but ford does stuff all the time where they'd be incompatible

You know, I saw some of those in a junkyard and didn’t know what to make of it. I didn’t really want to pay for one only to find it wouldn’t work for one reason or another and at the time I didn’t have time to try fitting one in an older Ranger in the yard.

Is that the one that was supposed to be on the front of the radiator for "additional cooling"?

the 2.3s come with a small electric fan, my 2005 has one.
they also have the regular engine driven fan.

My '08 2.3 has the engine-driven fan.

Interesting. Any chance I can get photos of the small e fan? 😁

The 2008 Ranger that I used to have had the 2.3l with both the belt driven fan and the electric fan and the electric fan would come on when I would turn the A/C on or the defrost.

I'm pretty sure someone here runs with just that efan....

Maybe it's @stmitch

Well. I used to run with a 3 e fan combo with the 1988... worked entirely too well. The front Mercedes pushers would windmill and overcool at highway speeds, and the main big one would only kick on in traffic.

With the new vented hood, I doubt I'll need anything as big as the mechanical. Considering putting to two small ones on the intercooler and one big one as backup like I did with the 1988. Was hoping there was an "Easy button" drop in.

I'll get back to you on that easy button.

...if I find it.

That's wild. Was yours an auto?

Bolt on? I'm not sure if I understand, I suppose I could have fabricated a bracket buy I just fastened mine directy to the radiator with zip ties.
