Yeah it's pretty wierd: my new one gets a good solid 24-25mpg in my mixed driving, has plenty of pep too: but somehow people want bigger stuff that they THINK has more power or sophistication, OR want a hybred that doesn't give them anything they claim to!![]()
Yeah the current 2.3 4 cylinder for the Ranger has much more horse power then the previous models and not much less then the 3.0 v6 AND its great on gas.
I think it has more to do with bragging rights though then power for some people. They want to say they have a V6 but get the good gas milelage as well. You can do that with many cars and SUV's today but unfortunately pick-up trucks wont get better than 20mpg with a V6.
I myself also am thinking of getting a 2008 2.3L Ranger. Just have to decide what options I want. The incentives right now are only $2500 and unfortunately there is barely any stock out there. I may have to order one in which case there goes the incentives.
