I've got a 08 xl with the 2.3l. I'm having some tire wear issues that I've narrowed down to potentially shocks or springs. I plan on doing shocks but I can't find the factory ride height specs anywhere. Anyone have access to a repair manual with the specs listed? Also I was wondering if anyone knew of any medium duty front and rear springs that won't lift the truck. Or even heavy duty actually.

I don't have specs readily available but I'll check AllData for you when I get home if nobody beats me to it. If you have a Ford factory repair manual, the info is also located in there. If you're looking for heavier duty springs, I believe Moog makes some with better weight capacity but don't quote me on that. Coil-over rear shocks tend to help a bit with weight capacity if you don't mind putting a bit of load on your mounts (you can get these from rockauto.com for right around $80)

You want STIFFER springs?? My ranger feels like a dump truck (same generation as yours). A wear issue on the tires is probably caused by incorrect alignment. Have you modified the front suspension in any way? Have you checked the alignment recently? Your truck isn't very old, so I wouldn't think the springs would have sagged much (mine have barely sagged since 2003). Also, how are your tires wearing? If the inside or outside of the tread is wearing, its definitely a camber problem. An alignment check would be your best bet before new springs.
New springs will settle a little, meaning that if you get an alignment when you install them, you'll need another one within a couple of months.

Its wearing on the inside and outside. Truck has no mods yet. Tracks straight and steers easy. I need hd springs at least for the rear. For firewood and such.

Sounds stupid but wearing on both sides??? Have you checked your air pressure?

I always check my air pressure and its good. All suspension parts are tight as well as steering parts.

Tracks straight and steers easy does not mean it is aligned properly. That just means it is aligned evenly.

Cupping wear on (I assume) the front tires can be caused by poor alignment, poor balance, worn shocks, or lack of rotation.

Since your issue is on both the inside and outside I would suspect shocks first, or really crappy roads.

Anyway, ride height.

Front is measured by measuring the bottom corner of the steering knuckle by the ball joint to the ground (A), and then measuring the bottom of the crossmember to the ground (B), then taking B-A.

Rear is measured by measuring the top of the axle tube to the bottom of the bump stop bracket.

Front coil spring spec is 4.015 inches give or take .6
Front T-bar spring spec is 3.661 inches give or take .3

Rear specs are

RWD regular cab and SuperCab, coil spring base suspension — vehicles with more than 500 miles 178 mm (7.007 in) - 200 mm (7.874 in)
RWD regular cab and SuperCab, coil spring payload package — vehicles with more than 500 miles 198 mm (7.795 in) - 222 mm (8.740 in)
4WD, FX4 and RWD torsion bar regular cab base suspension — vehicles with more than 500 miles 175 mm (6.889 in) - 197 mm (7.755 in)
4WD, FX4 and RWD torsion bar SuperCab base suspension — vehicles with more than 500 miles 156 mm (6.14 in) - 175 mm (6.89 in)
4WD, FX4 and RWD torsion bar SuperCab payload package — vehicles with more than 500 miles 175 mm (6.889 in) - 197 mm (7.755 in)

I'll let you find your truck in that mess.
