Recently bought a 2008 ford ranger xlt supercab 2.3 5 speed. someone did a 3 inch body lift which I like the stance. Question I have is when driving I notice when hiting those annoying lines in the road every so many feet that sometimes I feel the rear end trying to kick out or to the side is there a reason for that or a fix? 6 foot box. also when driving even slow across a little crevice it will sway back and forth really bad I know the shocks are probably bad but really rocking like that. any info will be appreciated.

I love when people answer their own questions. :yahoo:

I know the shocks are probably bad

Bad shocks = bouncing and rolling.

That sounds like the 2004 Focus that I had. That car had been rear ended, and then fixed. I never noticed any issues going over bumps on dry pavement, but on ice, that thing was REALLY scary. I suspect that when the car had been repaired after the accident, the rear suspension wasn't checked.

My advice? New York gets snow and ice, if I'm not mistaken. Before winter sets in, have somebody check the rear suspension. It might just be bad shocks, as dirtman suggests, but if I were you, I'd have the whole rear suspension checked.

Last year our town for some unknown reason dug trenches all over the roads and then thought sand would make good filler material instead of asphalt...

Obviously all the sand was gone in 2 days and I was left driving over all these damn ditches. Anytime I ran over one while turning a bit the back of my truck would hop to the side like it was kicked by a mule. A new set of bilstiens and I barely noticed when I ran over one.

Not saying there may not be another issue but occams razor rarely fails when it comes to automotive diagnostics. Anytime you say "well, I know this is bad but..." Stop right there and fix that part before even finishing your thought. :icon_thumby:
