Hello All!
I have questions about a transmission swap I am wanting to do. I have a 2006 Ranger King Cab 3.0 / Automatic that I am wanting to swap to a 5 speed Manual.
I also have a 2003 Ranger Single Cab Short Bed 3.0 / 5 speed manual for a donor. I realize I will probaby need a driveshaft from a long bed or king cab for this swap.
I know I'd have to swap the pedals, clutch master cyl, steering column, flywheel/clutch, trans....maybe crossmember.
would I have to swap any wiring harnesses or computer? And are these 2 trucks compatible for a plug & play swap? Did I miss anything that should be on the swap list?

Thank you in advance for all info. 🙂

Clafifying....2006 Ranger King Cab 2 dr 3.0 Auto (engine knock). I also have a 2001 Ranger Ext Cab 4dr 3.0 Auto (no reverse). Donor truck 2003 Ranger Std. Cab Short Bed 3.0 5spd manual (wreck).

I want to fix and sell the 2006. I want to keep the 2001 to work out of.

Would like to know if it would be a plug and play for either truck or not. I know I will have to get another 5spd driveshaft. And id like to know if the steering column would fit either truck.

Have you measured the lengths of the transmissions? Or are you assuming you need a driveshaft? Measurements save money.

You may want to swap the pcms so they don't get confused with the wrong transmissions.
