Hi Fellas,
My 2006, XLT 2WD, 2.3L 5-spd, has began illuminating its Check Engine Light (CEL) continuously while running. It has no noticeable changes in its driveability. I do not have a OBD II scanner. I suspect there is a way to read the codes on the dash. I have not located the procedure to read the codes via the dash. Would someone please direct me to where I can locate the procedure?

Thanks in Advance, Guys!

Maybe someone will chime in with an alternate method. But you can get a Bluetooth obdII scanner for about $10-15 and download the apps to your phone for free. I use the torque app. Torque lite is free. The full version costs a few bucks.

There isn't one

If you have a smart phone, most people do now, get a Bluetooth OBD2 reader, under $20 and the APPs are free or $5
Works with iOS or Android

And it works on ANY 1996 and newer vehicle, not a Ranger or Ford thing, so a good tool to have

Ford did start to use digital dashes, called HEC(hybrid electronic clusters)
You can Google: Ford HEC test mode

It can display some codes but usually just BODY codes not engine/power train codes
And HEC test mode often didn't work on Ranger clusters

An ancel 310 costs 15 bucks. .
