I have looked at numerous forums and havent found much info other than alot of people asking the same question as I am. And with that searching I haven't found a solid answer for any of these questions.
So my question is what exactly is needed to get this done. Let me start by saing I have 2005 XLT 4x2 with 5speed trans. I started the idea of a swap a few months ago, took out the 3.0 and trans and sold them. So as of now I have no engine or trans.
When doing the 4.0 swap, I know I need to swap the ECU,engine harness and trans along with some other accessories like the condenser and powerstering. And I am also going to have to find a way to mount those into my truck just how the factory did it. So aside from buying an engine, ecu, trans, and other small parts, will I need to swap out any other electrical systems as well in order to get it to run properly. Or will the engine harness plug right into the fuse box/dash harness no problem and run well as long as I switch the other parts mentioned above.
Or should I just stay with what I had and find another 3.0 to put back in?
I am really in a mess right now with this, and I have so much invested in my truck I really just want to drive it again.
