Hey folks
I have a 99 B3000 with a 3.0 V6 that is showing it's age. I want to replace my +150K engine with one from a later model with less miles, like an '03 or '04 with 154hp! I talked to a guy at a junk yard and his computer didn't recommend it, he wasn't sure why. At least he was honest. I just read Doug Anderson's article about the vulcan variations and I still don't see a difference. Is there any REAL reason why I shouldn't replace a '99 with a '04? What should I expect? thanks!

150k doesn't seem that bad for a '94. If it was 250K, they you might want to think about it. The only glich would be that you need to get the whole drive train (minus the rear axle) and computer.

150K isn't really the issue, it overheated and now I have less than 60# compression on cylinders 2 & 5. I'm right at that point of rebuild or replace, if I could find an '04 or newer with around 60K for around $800, I would much rather replace...

if you take everything, wires, trans (if auto), computer, etc, if should be ok.
