I'm thinking about putting in some new speakers, but I can't seem to figure out the stock stock size and depth. I was looking at THESE will they fit. I read that they're 5x7 also read 6x8 :dunno:. I've checked the tech section but its out of date used the search feature got nothing.

I don't think those will fit. Stock size is 5x7, the Front can mount regular size speakers but the rears need a special mounting pattern and I believe are shallower. I have a set of Polk db571 speakers up front and a set of Kenwood KFC-C6882ie in the back. They are a great all around setup that have a really clean sound.

Ive done as much research as my lil brain can handle and I'm still getting 6x8 for front and rear? Yet it also says 5x7 for the front also. Could I fit 6x8 up front with a bit of dremel work? I also have Fat mat on the way to the house right now and Im gonna be doing all 4 doors and everything else thats why I've decided to upgrade in speakers. Also whats top depth mean vs total depth I noticed its not much of a difference. If it says cut out diameter or length is 5x7, does that mean it will fit in the 5x7 hole?

Yeah no problem, where did you get your fat mat? I need to get some for my truck. I installed an amp to my speakers and now all my panels rattle like an SOB.

Oh.. I also recommend getting a 4 way amplifier for your truck too!

Found the Fat Mat on Ebay 100 sq ft for about $125. I plan on covering everything including the inside/outside of the doors.

I'm gonna look for a small amp 250-300 but I'm confused on the whole RMS thing, my pioneer head unit puts out 22w RMS. Should I look for an amp that puts out enough RMS to cover the whole 65 RMS of the kickers, or one that covers the difference between the speakers and the head unit???

Plus being in japan for the time being has given me time to think about these things and with 12 days left I cant wait to modify:headbang:

Well the HU is putting out 22w RMS and like 50w MAX so that means it can put out 50w but it won't necissarily be the clearest and will distort before it gets close to the speakers RMS.

Your speakers take 65w RMS that means at 65w your speakers will perform at their best. and they can handle... whatever amount it is like 200 or something but RMS is what you want to match.

When you hook up the Amp the power coming from the HU will not matter as you use RCA cables to go to the amp or you can do the high power direct signal but either way the amp is just reading the signals and then puts them to the speakers at a higher power so suddenly you are hearing all the little notes you would have missed otherwise.

Sorry if this is poorly written (its like 5 am here)

I think I'll skip on buying the amp until further notice. I do want to I just don't have the funds right now, if my wife finds out about the money I've already spent I'm gonna have a problem lol.

Got to thinking:Lets say I was gonna buy an amp anyways with the specs of these SPEAKERS what would be a good amp?

Yeah you can always wait to get an amp too, The speakers will still sound good and you will notice a big difference over stock speakers justwith an amp you can turn it up LOUD and hear minimal distortion. So if you just plan on listening to music as you drive then no amp will be fine but if you plan on being the life of the beach party I would get an amp lol.

As for amps I got an Alpine MRP F300 with 50w RMS and my speakers handle like 60w rms and it still sounds great so I would say anything with 50w - 75w RMS per channel is what you are going to want.

You can find alot of 6x8 witha 5x7 pattern, however the dimensions of the speaker phsicallywont fit, its more geared towards mustangs. I used 6x9 and just made a mount for my truck. It works well enough, but I aint bangin away with the radio.

6x8 speakers do work for our rangers... the 5x7 pattern probably won't work.

I looked at the speakers you were intersted in and I would probably look at getting some different, One page says 120w RMS and the other says 65w RMS.
