2003 ranger stock throttle cable to holley carb

sorry, I've ran luckless searches. Anyone adapted the stock throttle wire with the little barrel on the end to a Holley carb, if so, how? And also, how is that little plastic and spring combo thing inside the cab on the gas pedal end supposed to work? Mine was already taken apart when I got truck.
