2003 fx4 ii

Considering buying an '03 FX4 Level II. How rough is the on road ride compared to an XLT?

i think it handles like a normal ranger. idk maybe someone with a level II can answer this.
i havent heard they have a hard ride tho

Should be pretty similar. The suspensions are pretty similar. I think the L2 might have some better shocks though.

Yeah I think about the only difference is shocks and tires, same springs and stuff though.

I don't think so... IIRC factory tires on an XLT 4x4 are 245/75/16 (At least they were on my truck), but I think for the FX4, the factory tires are 31's...

the fx4 had 31s and then they went to 16 rims, but i think the 31s were still available

when i bought my 05 fx4 lvl 2 it came with 33s and the ride comfort was definitly better than my 98 xlt, i have since put a 3in body lift on it and ride comfort dropped a bit but nothing crazy, i still think it drives better than my 98 ranger. hope this helps

I thought the Bilstein shocks would affect the road ride, but sounds like it's not a concern. Thanks.

For '03-up:
FX4 -- 245/75-16, HD shocks
FX4 Level II -- 31x10.50-15, Bilstein shocks

That, and the newer ones use Rancho shocks.
