2003 Ford ranger 4.0 o2 sensor problem

Hello everyone

ok i have a 4.0 ranger , i recently got several codes but the one im concentrating on is the o2 sensor circuit and i want to make sure my wiring is correct. 1 problem ........ i dont know what color wires to match up too!! i know that the sensor has 1 blk, 1 gry, and 2 wht , but heres the issue , What color wires on the vehicle side do i match them up to? if anyone has a diagram for dummies i would greatly appreciate it . i have checked everything else i can think of and this one is the biggest problem so far. The other codes were for the evap system , but i checked all over and found no vaccume leaks or anything . so if you can help i woulld appreciate it . Thanks !!
 
It seems like you are dealing with a universal fit sensor. Can't help you there.

You are not likely to find an evap leak by visual inspection alone. Most leaks that trigger an evap code are .040" in size or smaller. Additionally I doubt you are looking in the right area given your post. I would def get that fixed as it is the system that keeps the fuel from evaporating out of the tank.

I would love to fix it. The truck runs fine except for some sputtering a low rom under a load. For example when making a turn ill roll and drop into second and when i hit the gas to start going again there's a lot of sputtering until I hit a higher rpm . Kinda like its loading up. Sitting at idle it will surge a little. It won't stall but it'll feel like its going to. That's the only signs I'm getting
 
Evap rarely causes running issues. That is more likely related to the oxygen sensor. Frankly, if you are trying to use a universal fit sensor, the extra cost of the direct fit unit is worth the headaches it saves you. Circuit codes are usually caused by wiring issues and not the component itself. Usually, but in this case part of the circuit is part of the component.
 
I totally agree. This is why I'm trying to find the right color wires to connect to.
What happened was that the connector dropped down at laid on the exhaust manifold and completely melted. So i cut the connectors off and now I can't figure out the right color wires to connect to.
