Hi, I am swapping a 1997 ford explorer 302 5.0l v8 in to my 2.3l Ranger. I was wondering what oil pan to use because of clearance issues with the cross member and steering rack.

Lots of info in this link including the different oil pans you can use. Don't forget to get the matching oil pickup tube and dipstick for the pan you use. You will also need the support stud. I would think the explorer engine would have a lot of this already.

The 97 Explorer pan clears things on the 98-11 Rangers. If, as the title indicates, you’re putting the 97 Explorer 5.0 into an 03 Ranger, it drops right in. The problem you will face is that the 97 Explorer has an incompatible fuel system and you’re going to have to probably gut the anti theft from the Ranger

2wd sla chassis dont like the old school truck pan the initial explorers had....well the aluminum ones. cant slam it low. there are 2 types of pans i have seen. fairly subtle but the later one works with the 2wd coil chassis better......
