So I'm about to do a 5.0 swap in my 99 Ranger with a blown 3.0 and 7.5" axle. I've found a 02 and 03 8.8 with 4.10's and LS. Will this swap work? I've read that the 98-00 models used a different speed sensor than the 01 n up Rangers. Anybody know if I can just plug the speed sensor from my 99 into the newer axle? Or any ideas on how to make it work? Thanks!

Why not continue to use the 7.5" until it fails?
The 8.8s you are looking at have the same 28 spline axles and small wheel end bearings as your current axle.

Gears and traction aids. Alot more and less expensive options for the 8.8 axle. I found a couple fx4 a rear ends.

Yes, the 2003 Ranger 8.8" will be plug and play in your 1999 Ranger

The rear axle sensor is for ABS so will be on all Ranger rear axles

The 1998 to 2000 Rangers just shared/used them for speedometer as well, but same sensor on all years

Your welcome

I forgot to qualify that your 1999 is a 2WD correct?

If you have a 4x4 then current ratio is 4.10 as well?
If not then you will need to change front axle ratio to match rear
