Is there a way...VIN #, housing stamps,etc...to determine rear end gear ratios in the Ranger...? Mine is a 2002, 3L, 4X2, automatic; And has anyone put in different gears to improve gas mileage...? Am not using the truck for hauling or off-roading, so don't need the power, but would like better mileage.
Thanx....Charlie

Yup tech library at the top of the page. Use the code off the door panel (driver side) or the tag on the axle will tell you the gear ratio.

Just do your homework. The 3.0 likes to rev. High gears won't help MPG much.
