HI everyone I own a 2002 Ranger with a 3.0L FF engine. And I want to decide whether to keep it or sell it and buy a non FF ranger. The main reason is that I would like a ranger with a 4.0L SOHC, I have thought of just doing an engine swap on my current truck but I have heard that swithcing engines and putting in an engine that is not FF forces you to switch the entire fuel system? is that correct?
Would it be worth my while to switch motors?
Or would I be better off selling my ranger and looking for something with a non-FF engine/4.0L SOHC?

Thanks.

Whats wrong with my post that I am not getting any opinions, I am completely open to opinions. My stats show Im a newb at this site but I have with my brother worked on vehicles since I could hold a wrench. and know what I am getting myself into based on the motor swap but I am unclear on the flex fuel to no flex fuel conversion.

The injectors, rails and ECU would have to come from the donor vehicle so there shouldn't be any issues. You can run gasoline in the ffv system obviously, so there shouldn't be issues with the flex fuel sensor.

I think some of the hook ups for fuel lines are different. I think.

Overall, on a vehicle that new, it would probably be easier to sell it and buy one that has what you want.

I went back and forth about this issue too, but I wanted to go the OTHER way... more efficient. I thought about swapping my 5R44E for a M5OD, but noticed the increase in MPG was only 1-2. I figured the most logical thing to do was to get a four. I REALLY wanted a Duratec, but in the end settled for a Lima. A big plus is that there is WAAAY more known about Limas then there is about Duratecs.
