So this isn't about how to resolve, more of a curiosity question. I bought this truck over the summer, I WFH so it doesn't get driven much. Since owning it I've notice a bit of a rough idle and seems to be lacking power but no codes. On Friday the check engine light came on when I started it. I noticed immediately that the rough idle was gone and the missing power had returned. When I got home I read the code and it was for a cylinder 2 misfire. (I have new plugs and coil, waiting for warm weather to install). I had a bit of free time so I changed out the #2 plug and cleared the code. Once that was done the rough idle and lacing of power was back.
TLDR: Why did it run better with the engine light on and go back to not running as well when I cleared the code? As it ran great with the light on is it safe to assume the plug, coil or plug wire isn't the problem?
