The ignition key switch at the top of the column is loose. I have to wiggle the key to get it started. Its getting worse. I'm afraid that soon no amount of wiggling will help. I was thinking replace the switch but I dont know about pats. Is this something I can do myself or is it a dealer item?

Thanks...

from my experience as a ford parts guy(10+ years) you need what is called the steering column lock module. The fact that you have to wiggle the key is a dead giveaway that it is failing

PN 9L8Z-3511-A IIRC . there is also a shear bolt that needs replaced as well

If you replace the cylinder with one that matches your keys, nothing should have to be changed with PATS.

If you change keys, you’ll need Forscan or a pro grade scan tool that can get into the anti theft system.

I haven’t checked for awhile, but there was a guy on eBay awhile back (Wolf Security) who would pin out new automotive locks to work with your keys. Most locksmiths can do it as well and of course Ford should be able to get you a matching cylinder.

Check with you local locksmith. They may be able to help you with this. Should be cheaper than the dealer.
Usually is. I mentioned buying off the guy on eBay because he was half the cost of the local locksmith who was half the cost of the dealer when I needed some stuff back before I started dabbling in locksmithing.

So I looked on rockauto and found these;

One is less than half the price than the other, but doesnt show instructions included. Is this what I need? I'm going to stop by the local dealer and see what they have also.
I want to try pinning this myself, is it possible?

It’s just a wafer lock, little fiddly with the tiny springs but pretty simple to do, you just have to find the right wafers to use to match your keys.
