i can't find any lifts over 5.5" for an 01 ranger. i was looking at buying one but not if that is all i can lift it with a kit.

I wouldn't want to lift a mini truck more than 6" anyway. If you need a bit more height, a body lift would be the route I would take.
If you want to run anything much over 35" the SLA independent suspension won't hold up that well anyways. Perhaps a solid front axle is a viable solution to your problem?
