Just finished my auto to manual swap in an 01 ranger 2.3 2wd. Now all I need to do to start it up is figure out the neutral safety wires so I can splice them together. Anyone have an idea which color wires they are?
Thanks

All Rangers have the Clutch safety switch connector wiring, manual or auto, it is located just above brake pedal, so it can be plugged into the clutch switch as needed.
If an automatic is installed "they" plug in the auto's NSS wiring into the Clutch switch connector.

So you just need to unplug the auto wire connector from the Clutch switch connector, and plug it into the clutch switch.

Look for Pink Wire

I have that plugged in already. Still nothing. I don't have to do anything with the wiring that went to the prndl switch on the auto?

He just did.

If that doesn't work, something else is wrong. :)

'When in doubt, jumper it out.'

There is a second harness on the engine that connects to the two guage sensors for coolant temp and for oil pressure, to the oil level sensor on the pan.

this harness runs down the back of the engine to the top of the trans.

If you havd an auto trans, the wiring goes to the Neutral safety switch

On a '91-92 it goes to the switches on a manual trans, the neutral sense switch and the reverse light switch, on a 1993-94 it runs only to the reverse light switch, because 1993-94's don't have the Neutral Sense Switch.

The Manual trans harness has a loop of pink wire at the connector to jumper the neutral safety switch. as a note your truck originally an auto will have the clutch safety switch connector (Actually the clutch multifunction switch), but will have a factory installed jumper cap in the plug...

The two smaller plugs that connect this "Trans & Guage" harness to the main harness will be found clipped to the drivers side inner fender directly below the brake master cylinder.

I recommend just locating a donor vehicle for this harness, it changed over the years and some years include the Light blue wires that go to the 4x4/4Lo indicator switch on the manual t-case, later years include the wiring harness extension to the Cat monitor sensors...

Trace the wires and simply disconnect everything...

I know which harness ur talking about. I can swap it later so the reverse lights etc work. Right now I would just like to start it.
Everything's together. Clutch pedal switch has power in and out when clutch is engaged(and key to start position). No theft light on.
No start. Not even cranking. I jumped the starter and it does crank. New battery. Starter is good.

Ii just double checked and all the wiring for the trans on this truck is tied into the main harness. It's a 2001. I'm guessing that the years you're referring to are all older models

It appears that I may not have power to the gem module. If thebfuse diagrams I found online are correct, I don't have power at the fuses for the gem module. Radio and lights work. No blower motor. No crank.

GEM uses 3 fuses
Fuse 26 10amp has power 24/7(all the time)
Fuse 11 7.5amp, key on power for GEM
Fuse 20 7.5amp, key on power for GEM

Fuse 24 7.5amp is the power that activates starter motor thru the Clutch switch

All in Central Junction Box(CJB), new name for cab fuse box

Battery junction box
Fuse 16 40amp feeds Blower Motor Relay

CJB, Fuse 2 10amp feeds switch that controls blower motor relay

Here is the starter circuit
The white/pink wire will only have power when key is turned to START and if 7.5amp fuse is good.

In this drawing it still shows the start wire going thru the clutch switch and then to the NSS on an automatic

Thanks ronD. Your diagram helped me figure it out. Even drove the truck to work today
