2001 ranger gas gauge.

I have an 01 ranger that the gas gauge is not working it stays on the e all the time. What fuse is it to the gas gauge? The pump is working right.
Has any one eles had this promblem? If so what did you do to resolve it? I have it tore apart in my garage right now and need it put bake togeather. We have now fount no shorts or any thing in the wires what so ever.
I need help with this asap. I called the part store and they cant get just the sending unit. Thank you all very much.

If it's on E all the time, the float in the tank probably got a hole in it, filled with gas, and sank to the bottom.

the flote looked in good shape. At one point of prankin round with it by moveing the flote by hand it was moveing on the gauge but we would have to turn the key off than back on to work.
