Just got the engine in my daughters new 2001 Ranger. Had 105,000 and one of the timing cassettes blew apart. For starters i bought this with a dead engine so i know little about it. Took it for a drive tonight and noticed the front end was making noise. Pulled into a parking lot and turned sharp and there was no hanging up or clunking like i would expect if it was stuck in 4x4. Switched the switch into 4WD hi heard the shift motor and got the familiar clunking on turns. Switched into 4WD lo and it worked properly too. Switch back to 2WD and the T-Case disengages but the front driveshaft still turns when rolling forward. I know it's not in 4x4 as the rear tires spin in the snow but after 10 miles i got home and the front axle is warm and it sounds like my 79 F150 driving down the road with the hubs locked and t-case in 2wd. I have searched hear for nearly an hour and can't see to find this problem. Anyone have any ideas??
