2001 Ranger 4WD no engaging

When I switch to 4WD in the summer it works every time. When I do it in the winter 50/50 if I'm lucky, no light, no click... bad control module??

Yes, the 2001 - 2005 4x4CM had issues, but the newer designed 2006-2011 control modules can't be used as replacement

Best bet is wrecking yard, they are in passenger side kick panel 2001-2003, in 2004/5 they are behind the radio in the dash
A used one will last as long as new one IMO, they just fail sometimes never read why, but not uncommon failure
