Having a really hard time with this one.
2001 Ford Ranger 2.5 with P0171 that pops up after 2-3 days of driving 2-3 hours (normal I think considering P0171 looks for high fuel trim for 2 drive cycles to trigger P0171).
Air filter is new and clean, MAF was cleaned with MAF cleaner, shop says they did smoke test and found no vacuum leaks, fuel pressure is good, 4 injectors less than a year old (had cylinder 3 misfire, found injector with open circuit, went ahead and replaced all 4), replaced throttle body, probably did some more but will list if I think of it.
STFT and LTFT are within the +/-10% at idle. STFT stays within the +/-10% while driving but LTFT stays above 10% and when trying to go up hills or maintain highway speeds stays above 20% unless coasting.
No major signs of head gasket (oil in coolant, milky oil, or white exhaust smoke). Coolant level does drop but doesn't empty out.
Been struggling with this one for a while. Threw in the towel, took to a shop that had it for 3 months, got it back with codes cleared and not passing readiness. Took for a full drive cycle last night. All readiness is green now but showed the 20% LTFT the whole time driving. Will post pictures as needed. Thank You to anyone who helps out with this one because I am struggling.
