so i noticed that my dads truck has a coolant leak since there is a puddle where his truck was.
anyways what can cause this. just so when he gets home i can check
also it started really rough.

Where is the leak show up on the ground? Front center, of engine = water pump, side front of engine = possible hose, etc

i would say front but i looked and i think it was just leaking from the coolant overflow so i replaced the hose il update when my dad comes back from work.
also its a 2001 ranger i dont know why i put explorer in the title

Coming from the overflow doesn't nessicarily mean a hose to the resivouir. It could be a bad tstat causing the coolant in radiator to boil, in turn building pressure and sending it out the overflow.
