2001 alarm problem!!

Hello Everbody, I have a 2001 xlt Ranger ive had for a few months, and have encountered a problem with the factory(at least i believe it is factory)alarm system. I had some new keys programmed for extras the other day, and while they will start the truck, none of my keys will disarm the alarm, only the key fob will shut it off. Ive tried opening and locking the doors and the ignition with no luck. The keys wont start the truck while the alarm is going off, so im assuming that is the factory anti theft system. There is sticker on the window that says Guardian, which i believe is a clifford company. I dont know if thats what is actually installed and if so, whether or not that is what is factory installed? I'm hoping to avoid the dealer and doling out more hundreds that i dont have. thanks.

I dont believe its factory. The factory alarm will shut off when you unlock the door with the key. Also the factory alarm will shut down when a correctly coded key is put in the ignition and the ignition is turned on.

So your alarm is not factory. Dealer installed alarms are not made by clifford. They are made by Code Alarm. Also a dealer installed alarm is not a factory alarm, it is a dealer installed item.

Thanks. I think i was mistaken about the clifford brand. Sorry for the confusion. the sticker actually says Chapman by Code-Alarm. Ive tried the key in both doors while the alarm is going off, and
so far only the fob is able to disarm the alarm. The Truck wont start with the key unless i use the fob.

Yes, your alarm is not factory, it is a dealer installed alarm. The good news is that you can order new FOBS through Code at litterally half the price the dealer charges. (I've been there). Also programming is easy.
