So im helping my little brother work on his ranger since im a bit more mechanically inclined than he is at this point and it came time to change his hubs. I was 600 miles away so i was walking him through the steps and our dad was there to help. Hub replaced truck is working fine now. However he just came to see me and i noticed the hub he bought is a different style than what is on the passenger side. After digging around the forum a bit longer i found this thread.

They noticed the same thing i did. However what i am having trouble with is them using the term Live axle. In what sense?

From my understanding a live axle is that like a D30, 44, 60, etc. Which i use interchangeably with solid axle. By saying life axle they are describing the fact that the front axle is constantly turning as it rolls down the road? or for some other reason?

Yes. You are mis-using the term "live axle". It does not refer specifically to a solid axle. It refers to a front 4x4 axle that has no option to disengage the wheel ends from the axle shafts and allow them to spin free of the differential.
