2000 ranger 5.0 swap trouble

you must switch the pats i had to hit the key and it fired right up

Fuel pump is running for 1/10 of a sec the comp kills ground. Comp is killing ground for starter when I turn switch, I can jump both off with relay removed.. I thought 2000 ranger would work if I swapped comp and steering column???

So I need PCM, steering column, and pats module from in front of passenger side airbag to work???

What trans are you running? I'm doing the same swap, 1999 explorer into 2000 ranger, check out my thread.

When a recognized key is used in a 1999~2000 V6 Ranger, the PATS Module supplies ground for the starter relay.

Swapped PATS behind airbag and nothing changed lol! Got my friend from a Ford dealership coming tom after work!

I also have a set of stock heads off my 89 mustang if anyone is interested in not using the P heads

Are the keys, PATS Module and PCM all from a single 5.0 Explorer donor? If not, you'll need a dealer tool to flash them to work together.

Also, what did you do about the mismatched connectors for the smaller engine harness - Ranger C184 8-pin round vs. Explorer C125 12-pin square?

All from my donor 2000 exp parked in my 2 bay garage right next to my ranger that will not crank lol. Could trying to crank without pats have confused comp and now that it has everything it's still confused

Not sure what your talking about C184 & C125??? I only added a longer red wire for starter and signal for starter to my ranger harness.

In each of the original Ranger and Explorer apps, there was a small subharness for the starter, AC, etc. but they are not exactly the same and use a different style connector between the engine and bay harness. In particular, the yellow/light blue wire passes through that connector on its way from the starter relay to the starter. If I understand correctly, it sounds like you already have that covered with the extended "signal" wire.

Codes P1260
P1000
Scheduling at trip to dealer ship to have her reflashed

Yeah, P1260 says your truck has been immobilized by PATS because of a theft event. That might be due to the attempts to get it started with the mismatched PATS components. Usually need a dealer tool to unlock and remove that code.

Before hauling it to the dealer, you could try this procedure: http://forum.gopowerhungry.com/1999...-start-after-programming-ford-pats-reset.html

I haven't used it myself so I can't vouch for it. Might be worth a try to possibly avoid the tow.

It's alive a running great boys!!! Got a p0113 iat sensor code now to run down

I've got the pcm, steering column, and pats module behind the airbag...What did you wire the module into? I haven't been able to find info on this.
