2000 Ranger 3.0 to 4.0

I have a 2000 Ranger 2WD with a 3.0 auto, thinkin about swapping it with a 2002 4.0 sohc and matching trans from an explorer. What all do I need for the swap? Anything special to look out for? Motor and trans should be complete minus computer which I would get. Does the trans have its own computer or does it plug into the ecu?

Get as much off the donor as you can.
All harnesses on the engine, to PCM to transmission.

I don't know what to tell you about PATS between those two years.
