I have a 2000 Ford Ranger 2.5 lt w/5-speed MT. There are two sensors on the top of the transmission. One on the left, which is the backup light sensor, and one on the right. I have not been able to indentify this sensor. It is pushrod activated sensor and it has two wires. I found the number P501 engraved in the sensor. Can someone please help? Jim

Hello, Jim.

I have the EVTM book for the 2000 model year.
From your description, I think that sensor is a neutral switch.

However, there is no mention of that switch in my schematic book.
Please tell me the colors of the two wires going to that sensor.

I also have a 2000 2.5 Manual trans truck.
When I get a chance, I'll crawl under there and see what mine looks like.

I can't find any system schematic that utilizes that manual transmission neutral switch.

Wire colors might help my search for you.
