I have a 2000 ranger with a 3.0 in it and the number 3 cylinder isn't getting fire from the ignition box but when I replaced the box with a new one it wont run at all and sounds like its out of time but I can put the old one will run the engine but with no fire to #3.Can someone shed light on this please I have changed plugs and wires and the ignition module but the problem gets worse with the new module

Either the new module is defective, or it's incompatible, or it's installed wrong.

You're probably installing it right, because you got the old module back in correctly, but make sure you double-check that connectors are tight and ground screws are clean.

Sometimes new parts are defective from the start. Can you take the module to an auto parts store and see if they can test it for you?

ignition module??

In1995 and then up, the Computer ran the ignition.

You mean you are changing the Coil Pack?

Or the Cam Position Sensor?
(this is for fuel injectors)

Coil packs can fail, if you got a new one make sure you are using the correct firing order
3 4
2 6
1 5
Front

That 5 6 4 gets me alot, and the plug wires for 5 6 4 and 1 2 3, you think wire is for 1 and it's the 2 wire, lol.

I checked all that and checked the connections and went back through the wires to make sure and they were fine and where they were suppose to be I can put the old coil pack back on and it runs but ha a misfire on 3 and when I switch to the new one it wont run at all.this is the 2nd new one installed.

thanks but I have done all that this is the 2nd module I have had and it does the same thing. I can put the old one back on and it runs just no fire on #3 but when I change it to the new one it acts like its jumped time or like its to far advanced or something I hate this truck. but thanks for responding. I went wire by wire so I didn't mess up anything its real easy swap takes about 4 minutes to do it so really cant screw it up, the part store says it worked but they took it behind the counter to test so hell I don't know I am at a loss I have never had this problem before

Ford used 2 v6 coils is the plug on your new one in the samr spot as the old one

That happened to me also. The haynes manual and a lot of online diagrams were wrong because the coil pack was flipped 180 on my 2008 3L. Make sure the coil plug connecter is the same side as the old one.
