2 ohms or 4 ohm ?

I have 2 kicker cvt65 6 1/2" subs that want to mount under my seats. they are 2 ohms and im trying to figure out if i can run them off of a 5 channel amp. i would be using channels 1-4 for the speakers and the 5th channel for both subs. can i run both 2 ohm subs off the one channel at 2 ohms or would i need to switch subs and get them at 4 ohms ?

When you're hooking up 2 subs to one channel, you have to wire them up either in series or in parallel. If you wire them in series, you're gonna have a 4 ohm load. If you hook them up in parallel, you're gonna have a 1 ohm load.

That amp is not gonna be able to handle a 1 ohm load, so you have to wire them in series for a 4 ohm load.

if i wire the subs in series wouldnt that draw 4 ohms from the amp causing them to only get 200 watts together? or would they still get 2 ohms at 300 watts which would then mean they are matched up perfectly ?

no you would have to run them at 4 ohms and you would only get 100w to each of them cause it 200W at 4ohms.

now if you found the the subs in a 4ohms set up. you can run them parrell and down to 2 ohms, then get 150 to each of them. and it would be perfect.
