2 inquiries.... which one??

I'd go for the 78. 73-79s are kick ass. Plus, you get a solid D44 front.

I'm looking at these due to financial reasons. I cannot afford anything really right now. As it is, I have to wait another 2 weeks for my paycheck in order to buy one or the other. The guy with the 86 never called me back, but i went and looked at the 78 and found out it was owned by my best friends dad for years. It has a good history. He drove it all over just pullin a trailer for work. He took good care of it. It runs good when it decides it's going to idle right. Other wise it'll die or it'll race up in RPMs. When I drove it, it drove nice, no problems other than it's running REALLY rich and not on all cylinders, you can hear it poppin. From what the guys wife said is that he's not a mechanic and he told me he rebuilt the carb. When looking at the engine, the right adjuster will adjust, but the left won't as if it's stuck or something. It's a holly 2bbl and thats all I know. I'm going to see if my mechanically inclined ford fenatic friend will go look and give me an idea what could be wrong. It's actually a really clean truck. It had a road runner mural on the tailgate but the guy was pressure washing it and it came off lol. The paint still has a good shine and metal flake. The hood is a bit oxydized but thats ok. The interior is dirty but other wise good. I really like this truck. If I can get a better opinion on whats wrong with it, I might offer him 650 for it. I can get a holly 500cfm classic 2bbl for 315 at my work, or even a new rebuild kit for 20 bucks. I really hope it all works out. I like this truck alot... lol. I'm already looking at lifts and exhaust systems for it haha

I think I'm going to go with the 78. That other guy will not call me back and i'm not going to sit around and wait. I'm going to offer 650 for the 78 and go from there. I really do like that truck. I really don't want to mess with that rediculous TTB fron axle. I had my share of bad luck... I'll enjoy the straight axle and deal with the carb problem. lol

I'd go with the 78. You're getting a solid front axle, and (IMO) a much nicer looking body style. I'm actually really jealous, I would love to find a 78 in that good of shape so I could drop a Ford Racing 521 in it.:D

I'm pretty sure I'm going to get it. But I'm not paying 850 for it. Not as it sits. It has a few minor things besides the carb and as far as I know it just needs to be rebuilt again becuase i'm sure the guy did something wrong when he rebuilt it. I'm going to offer 650 and go from there.
