2 Cats? or something else?

I have a 1990 Super, 2.9 2WD.

While checking out my rather aging exhaust, I see what appears to look like 2 catalytic converters. They are connected in line together before the muffler.

Am I correct thinking these are both cats? Or is one some sort of resonator?

Any Ideas?

Also, I just wanted to thank everyone here, this place is great! I've been reading and reading for days now. TRS is an amazing resource!

Thanks! :icon_cheers:

Yes, those are both cats.

Yes, those are both cats.

Thanks for the information.

If replacing these with aftermarkets, do you end up replacing with just one or do you need two aftermarket cats?

Just asking because I didn't see anything about pairs while researching my options with aftermarket catalytic converters...

Thanks again!
