2.9L vs 4.0L OHV Clutch Fan Size?

Is the clutch fan on a 4.0L OHV engine larger than the one on a 2.9L Cologne? My fan is hitting the fan shroud and I'm thinking either the 2.9L shroud is too small for the 4.0L's clutch fan?

If that's not the case, then it is probably an issue with the motor mounts, I've been told.


Also thinking about going with a Flex-A-Lite electric fan because my high-altitude performance is pretty bad. Thoughts?

Just measured the 4.0 @ 17.75", and the 2.9 @ 14". That's fan blade tip to tip.
Both shrouds are ~ 20" across.

Now I recall that the 4.0L shroud has a slight offset... Ughh, but it doesn't fit my 2.9L radiator.
