I just finished swapping a 4.0 into my '89 ranger that had a 2.9 with over 400,000 original miles on it. The swap went well and the truck runs great. The engine is a 4.0 out of a '91 Areostar van. The problem I am having is that the hood does not clear the engine's intake manifold and will not shut. I used the 2.9 motor mounts and the motor mount brackets from the 2.9 as the brackets from the Aerostar were different. So my question is, are the metal brackets that bolt to the sides of the engine different on the ranger/explorer than on the aerostar?? Thanks.

Uhhh.... Yeah... why would you think Aerostar engine mount brackets are the same?

BTW, the brackets on a '95-up explorer are also different...

You need the brackets off a '90-97 Ranger or 91-94 Explorer.
