2.9l flowmaster

I have a 88' ranger with a 2.9l. It has headers not sure what brand they are short though. They have a leak and was wondering if the leak could cause gas mileage or power loss. Am also thinking about putting on some flowmasters. I am looking at the super 44's. And would these give it any more horsepower or gas mileage? What are some mufflers that you guys like on the 2.9? I am looking for a deep sound and medium loud not really really loud. What would go good with headers and with a stock cat? Also could i run true duals on this truck or would that affect how it runs? Thanks for the help.

i know this is a semi old thread but here it goes the super 44 will give it a good sound my buddy has one and it sounds great now true duals on a 2.9 sounds like crap to me the only time it sounded semi decent was when one of my buddies spent 1200 for a shop to make a coustom exhaust which took them 3 weeks to get it tuned and that was with a mild cam in it so i would just go with the 44.

my muffler fell off just before the muffler, so i went to the parts store and bought their cheapest muffler, which was a glass pack, sounds pretty decent to me...

youre not going to get the V8 racecar sound out of it, but its not over powering or raspy...

Currently deep in a 2.9L project.

Leaning towards a Hooker Aero Chamber muffler at the very rear of the truck for in cab piece and quiet.

mufflers wont give you any power gains.
