Alright so my truck stopped working and i find out that the gasket between the head and the plenum is effed up so i take all of that off and replace the gasket and the head bolts which for some reason you have to change every time you take te head off of a 2.9L motor. Anyways i get my engine all put back together and now when i try to fire it up the 6th cylinder spark plug fills up with gasoline and starts to blow the gas all over. I cant figure out whats wrong with it i checked out the 6th cylinder fuel injector and it was fine but i replaced it anyway with one i knew that worked then when i got everything rewired the same problem happened. I have no clue what could be wrong. Can the fuel pressure vacuum be screwed up. My friend also said that the fuel rail return might be blocked. I just hope I'm not wasting hundreds of dollars when theres a simple problem i;m not thinking of any ideas would be great
-thanks

check your fuel pressure, pull codes.

Did

Yeah we tried that and managed to take the fuel pressure regulator off of an old 2.9L engine and replace mine which got the truck running. It ran for about 5 minutes then white smoke started coming out the exhaust and it was dripping a little water and then it died. Not sure what the frick is wrong now guess i'm walkin for another day

Montana isn't known to be a overly wet state. But has it rained bunches lately?

How long has it sat while this been waiting for repair?

You might just have a abundance of coolant left over from the repair that spilled into the exhaust.

are you loosing coolant??

negative

my truck has only been dead about a week now and it is definitely not losinf coolant when i had it running for the few minutes it sucked some in because it was drained but that was just the normal amount

pressure test the cooling system. check for slow drop in pressure. if so might be cracked cylinder head. white smoke is coolant. OR... if you changed the head gasket and forgot to drain the block coolant will spill in to the cylinder bores and u have to suck it all out or its just gonna have a hard time starting after you put it all back together. that would explain the smoke and hard starting. Im sure the oil looked fine, not whitish yellow and thick.. if it was then you either just had a blown head gasket.. or cracked head... did you look into the cylinder bore and check if it wasnt full of coolant before you put it back together..? . thats all i got.

timing set right...? did you disconnect the computer controlled timing advance before you set the timing? after pulling the distributor its a bitch getting it back in and set perfectly.. unless you've done it more then a few times. throw some new spark plugs and a oxygen sensor on it too while your at it cause coolant messes wit the oxy sensor ... so i heard. Good Luck.
