Hey so i have a 1988 bronco II 2.9l automatic and ive been having intermittent fuel pump problems. I can start the vehicle up and drive it around a bit one day, and the next the fuel pump will cut out and every time i put the key in to the on position there will just be a "click" and no buzz. Ive replaced my fuel tank, both fuel pumps (one in tank one on frame rail), filters, fuel pump relay, starter and the battery and still have no idea what it could be. Even before i replaced all these things it was happening and i dont feel like spending much more money on this. This has happened around 8-10 times so far and im getting quite sick of it. Can someone PLEASE help me.
Thanks

Have you tried the ecu relay next to the full pump relay? Also you may unplug and check the relay plugs for any nasty green corrosion. The same for the inertia switch located under the carpet on passenger side floorboard just under the heater box. I have seen loose conections or coroded connections there causing an intermediate problem.

My 88 ranger has 3 harness connectors on the dr fender, beside the ignition coil, the groung for the fuel pump was corroded IN one of the connectors, cleaned it, now FP works great !

check to see if all the wires are connected real good. i was having this problem on my ranger. when i turn mine on the i can hear the one on the frame the loudest. there is 2 wires that is connected to it i had to replace one of the connectors to get a tighter fit and it worked. there is one that is on the fuel pump in the tank and mine comes just a little loose and it wont work because of the clip that holds the wires on is broke so thats why mine wont work sometimes
