2.9 won’t rev over 3000 rpm


Could the problem be in the ignition wiring circuits? You replaced all the ignition individual components but not the wires that connect everything together including to the ECU. Some ignition wiring is shielded against interference, and the connector/pigtail to the TFI is widely available indicating those break regularly (the one on my Bronco II was replaced already by a PO).

You’re probably right. The harness is the only thing left assuming the new parts are all good. I’ve looked at parts of the harness but will probably remove it for a thorough inspection.
 
Removed inner fender to access wiring harness at firewall. Disconnected harness at ecm and pulled harness with connector into engine compartment. Inspected wiring harness to each sensor on engine and found no damage.

Can’t figure this one out.

Engine still idles OK but ignition starts to drop out between 2000 and 3000 rpm.
