I doing a service on the tranny and want to know where the drin and fill plug is at? Is it the two blots in a shape of a square? theres three all together.

automatic or manual?

trans uses 80w90 gear oil

just because a '86 came factory with a fm145 doesn't mean its not a m50d now, not many of these trucks are original anymore. Check out the tech section for trans ID.

There are no "square headed" drain plugs on a Mazda M5OD-R1

There is no "bottom cover" on an M5OD-R1

The bellhousing is integrally cast with the transmission case on an M5OD-R1

On a "T-K" transmission (the ONLY 2wd manual trans on '83-87 Rangers) there are TWO drain plugs, the 5th-Reverse section of the trans has a seperate drain.

Why would the dealer say Mercon V? Thats the same thing the dealer told me.That is also what came out of my tranny recently when I put a new pan gasket in?

Im not sure why the dealer would say mercon v I think Im just going to look it up in the manual it should say right? or I could take a picture of the tranny if that helps. the other day I unbolted the 15 mm square bolt and found it had oil in it but it was black very black.
