2.9 to 4.0

ok i have a 88 ranger 4x4 with a 2.9 and auto trans., i have a buddy with an 94 4x4 ranger with a 4.0 that he flipped the other day, so i called him and he said that he would sell me the whole truck for less than 500.00 and the truck runs good and was well taken care of so im more than likely going to get it and i was wondering how hard it would be to do this swap since i had the whole truck there for parts and is it worth it.
