I've got a nice '89 Ranger with a 2.9 and automatic transmission. The engine however, is shot. I would like to replace it with a 2.3 four cylinder. I don't do any heavy hauling, so power isn't an issue. I've got a chance to buy a wrecked 1990 Ranger with a newly rebuilt 2.3 and manual transmission. I would like to install the 2.3 but use the automatic trans. My three main concerns are (1) Will the ECM from the donor truck work? (2) Will my flexplate and transmission fit the 2.3 motor? (3) Will the A/C and fuel connections hook up fairly easily? If anyone knows of any other issues that I will face, I would like to hear them too. Thanks, in advance for any advise.

No. No. Yes. Maybe. Gonna need a new bell housing and maybe torque converter. Wrong section of the forum.

How is this a towing thread? I'll move it if I can figure out how.
