:annoyed:i have my 87 B2 and it will start and run until it warms up then when i press on the gas it just boggs down and shuts off seems like it is not getting any gas it has a full tank. I am not shure what to do both pumps are wining when you have it powered on. Checked the fuel rail and it had 40 psi.

So this happens when its warm? if so, it could be involved with the truck being in a "closed loop" IIRC.
Basically when its warm the ecu adjusts fuel delivery. When its cold and "open looped" I believe the ecu disregards things like the oxysensors.

I would start with checking the voltage of the oxygen sensors with a multimeter and making sure they are where they should be voltage wise.

Also, how are the cap, rotor, wires and plugs? Since you give it gas and its stalling out or stuttering, It could also be a spark issue.

check the engine temperature sensor, it tells the ecu when the engine is up to temp and if its not working properly it will tell the computer that the engine is still cold so it needs more fuel to get warmed up. this will cause a rich condition which will cause it to bog down when you hit the gas and give it even more fuel

what he said.......:icon_thumby:

So how would i check to see if it is bad and where could it be located in the 2.9?

ok i will do that after work today and keep you all posted thank you i hope this will fix the problem

have you pulled codes?

I am having the exact same problem; I replaced the o2 & coolant temp sensor and confirmed the wiring continuity to the ECU - everything checks out good.

Is there anything else that would cause this problem in closed loop?

Not to sound stupid, but did you change the fuel filter, air filter and all that crap:icon_confused: Not enough fuel and not enough air = not enough power. Trust me, I'm having the same issues, did those things and it helped alittle but not fixed. I've got to try all the other suggestions. I know that was probley of no help but little thing's are usually over looked, LEARNED THAT FROM EXPERIANCE!!!!:icon_thumby:

i am getting ready to check the coolent tem sensor i had to get a new sillinoid because my stater wouldnt shut off and the snow cleared now so i hope it works and i changes the fuel filter plugs wires so on so forth i gave it a tune up and it ran good before then one day it did what it did so now i am trying to get it running good week are supose to get more snow next week.

so i went to go check the coolent temp sensor and i went to pull the taps to get it off and barley and pressure the plastic on the sensor just feel apart and broke in half so i am going to get a new one so i hope that was the problem

so i put in the new sensor and it is still acting like it is not getting fuel. when i start it up i can floor it and it will rev right up but after that i will press on the gas and it will sputter or just seems like it shuts off then when i let go of the pedal it just sits at idle
