The engine's timing was off so i advanced it, it ran better. I decided to get a timing light and put it back and it ran like crap. It had no power and kept on missing, even when i adjust the timing and make it run better between 50 and 60 it misses a lot. any suggestions?

just curious...did you remove the spout plug prior to "retiming it"??

It needs to be removed for proper timing setting.

Missing at 50-60mph in O/D? Check your spark plugs (any signs of melting?).

+1 to the SPOUT, it's a little square pill that can be pulled (mines white), it's usually on the passenger side and I believe it comes out of the injector harness. Just look around in the distributor area, passenger side. You'll know when you have it because the timing won't jump around.

10-12 BTDC is typically ok. Set it here because it's right. Otherwise you're just band-aiding something else which will make it more difficult to diagnose.

check the vacuum lines.... are they weak?? maybe 1 of them collapsing.

can you get over 2500-3500 rpm on the driveway just rev'ing the motor..(no movement) or does it have to be moving??

others have tried disconnecting the O2 sensor....if things improve...change it.

ya and manual, it could be the trans, 4th is gone because the sycros went out but im pritty shure its not the trans
