2.9 Promaxx Aftermarket Head Porting


So let me see if i follow...

3.7pistons+2.9rods+4.0crank jammed in a 2.9L block =3.5L stroker?

Its that easy?

With a machine shop.

or good disciplined building ettiquette.
 
Ok, but how is this better than building a 4.0?
 
From what I've read, they didn't have the 4.0 over there.

Made due with what they had, and the cost of shipping a crank is far less than an entire engine.

Shipping is the sole reason I haven't brought a 24v cosworth in over here yet.

So, as it turns out, it's also because the 3.5 stroker is much higher output than the 4.0...

Well sheet... now my engine ideas are galloping all over the place...

Its that easy?
The 4.0 crank need a bit of work to fit. Diameter turned down approx 13mm. Then you have to work out if you are going to internally balance the engine which will require mollory metal slugs or externally balanced which requires counterweights fitted to the front pulley and flywheel.
 
It's not. In the US with all the 4.0 engines around I don't know why you would want to build a 3.5.
Because there are a few on here (NOT ME!) who believe the 2.9L is a better engine then the 4.0L?!?!? The fantasize that the 2.9l is the greatest engine ever made.
